Integration of Faith
Often clients are looking for faith-based counseling where earnest discussions around religion, theological belief and spiritual values can be had. Clients want to be able to not only discuss the issues at hand, but also openly discuss what a relationship with God & community looks like in the midst of these issues.
If you're encouraged by the idea of sitting with a therapist who can navigate the complexities of religious tradition and conviction, I'm excited to pursue the integration of your faith into our counseling together.
Sharing a bit of my own journey for the sake of transparency, I have been a Christian my whole life and believe in the Christian doctrine of the Holy Trinity; The Father, The Son - Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. For more information on this, click here. My local community parish, St. Spyridon, has a detailed page that explains the Orthodox Christian practice, including the Nicene Creed, which explains the foundation of the Christian understanding of faith in Christ.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor I am never looking to impose my personal faith onto a client. In fact, I find the choice to be transparent in my professional life as a way to make sure clients are aware of this and comfortable with seeing me, sometimes despite the fact that I am a practicing Orthodox Christian. If you're not interested in religion or faith being a part of your counseling experience, I am still confident in the work we can do together clinically, and hope to sit with you.
